Welcome to my blog

If you enjoy finding a lot of different outlets for your creativity, then we may just be kindred spirits.
This blog is an outlet for my interest in miniatures, crochet, plastic canvas, and many other various arts and crafts.

I also love walking, taking digital photos, and most recently, have rediscovered an old love...bike riding! I purchased an amazing new bike, a comfy Townie by Electra this summer, and have been having a grand time exploring the area as though for the first time. It's like being a kid again!

If you enjoy any of these things too, pour a cup of coffee and tea, sit down, and join me.

Take care!

Working on a Multi Day Digital Landscape Painting

 Landscape Painting?  Why Not

Trying a landscape tutorial, step 1, sky, background mountains, and fog

I saw this Mountain and Tree Landscape Art tutorial on Youtube, by James Julier Art Tutorials, and thought I'd give it a try.

I was really happy with the way my background came out.  I was terrified to add the trees, lol.

Following a landscape tutorial.  Added trees and a tree line

The art instructor made it seem so easy...just a few straight lines for the tree trunks, and scribbly squiggles for the branches.  Yeah not so easy.  My first few tries looked like something done in kindergarten.  Thankfully this is digital art so it's easy to press undo and try again, lol.  I finally came up with these trees.  Mine aren't as full as the artists, but I think it's because I live in Northern Ontario and our Pines and Spruce trees have a lot of gaps, like this.  To me, this is what trees look like. Only Christmas trees from tree farms are full

The next step is to add color to the trees.  I'm embarrassed to say it took me two days to get as far as I did, lol.  It's literally a 33 minute tutorial and it's taking me multiple days, a sore hand, and a blister on my finger from holding the pen so hard. I need to adjust my settings, lol.

Wish me luck.
