Welcome to my blog

If you enjoy finding a lot of different outlets for your creativity, then we may just be kindred spirits.
This blog is an outlet for my interest in miniatures, crochet, plastic canvas, and many other various arts and crafts.

I also love walking, taking digital photos, and most recently, have rediscovered an old love...bike riding! I purchased an amazing new bike, a comfy Townie by Electra this summer, and have been having a grand time exploring the area as though for the first time. It's like being a kid again!

If you enjoy any of these things too, pour a cup of coffee and tea, sit down, and join me.

Take care!

Kalimbas are AWESOME

I Discovered Kalimbas!

I am super excited because I used to play the guitar (years ago) and I haven't been able to play for a long time because of injuries and a wonky finger. So earlier this week I googled "musical instruments that don't require index fingers" lol, and a Kalimba was recommended.

I had no idea a Kalimba was, so I googled it, and instantly fell in love.  I also fell down the Youtube rabbit hole and spent way too much time watching everyone playing Kalimba.

Then I checked on Amazon and was shocked by how affordable they are.  So I bought one. And then another one. And then one for my best friend lol.

My clear acrylic Cat Kalimba arrived first, on Wednesday night. I was super excited and couldn't wait to play.  But then on Thursday my uncle Carlo passed away unexpectedly.  I spent the day with relatives.

On Friday I finally pulled out my Kalimba, and my best friend's Kalimba arrived, so we both started at the same time (she LOVES hers too).

Anyway, I decided to record my Kalimba journey.  Here is the first song I learned; Kumbaya, my Lord.

I also learned how to do a greenscreen video, except I do not own a green screen and used a turquoise towel, so it's not perfect.  Neither is my playing, but I LOVE it!

Our Camp; My first Procreate Art without a Tutorial

My First Procreate Painting with No Tutorial

Our Camp, Procreate/Ipad Digital Art, no tutorial

I'm learning!  I had so much fun making this.  It's not perfect, but it's the best I can do so far, lol.  I made this painting/drawing/illustration (what are they called, lol) for my Dad.

This is our family cottage, which we call camp.  I sketched and then painted this based on a photo I took this summer while I was out there. I want to try to make it again a year from now to see if I've improved.

My Dad loves it; it was part of his 82nd birthday.

August 21/21, Camp Life at Goulais Bay

Aug. 21st 2021 Camp Life

Aug. 21/21, Goulais Bay

It was cloudy and foggy again, but the sunrise was gorgeous. Some waves on the lake today.  I love the sound of the waves hitting the shore.

On no! The first leaf has fallen!  Nooooooo!  LOL; it's too early.

Aug. 21/21, Goulais Bay

Used the super zoom on my camera to watch this boat and the flock of ducks racing.  The ducks won.  They were behind the boat when I started watching but quickly overcame the boat and went out ahead!  I had no idea that ducks(or maybe geese?) could fly faster than a motor boat!

Major clouds this morning.  So pretty.
