Welcome to my blog

If you enjoy finding a lot of different outlets for your creativity, then we may just be kindred spirits.
This blog is an outlet for my interest in miniatures, crochet, plastic canvas, and many other various arts and crafts.

I also love walking, taking digital photos, and most recently, have rediscovered an old love...bike riding! I purchased an amazing new bike, a comfy Townie by Electra this summer, and have been having a grand time exploring the area as though for the first time. It's like being a kid again!

If you enjoy any of these things too, pour a cup of coffee and tea, sit down, and join me.

Take care!

Reborn Portrait Doll, choosing the right sculpt

I was asked several times over the past few weeks if I'd done a reborn portrait doll.  I have, but unfortunately I only have photos of the reborn doll...I gave the photos of the actual baby back, so i have no way to prove i can do it.

I am thinking of doing a reborn portrait baby of myself.  It would be a doll I can keep, I'd always have the baby pictures.

I blew up some old photos of myself and cropped the face so i could try to find a sculpt that resemble my baby self.

It's hard to find an exact sculpt, but i think these ones are close:   One is Lilly, by Denise Pratt, and the other is Rowan, by Jessica Schenk.  It's going to be hard to choose.  I think Lilly is a closer match though.

Reborn baby doll, Trey

I made this cute little guy a few weeks ago and I really love the way he came out.  I crocheted the little blue and white sweater set for him (I love that blue yarn). I made sneaker-like booties and they're so cute.
Trey is still available for adoption.
He's such a cutie...he always makes me smile when I see him. He's so lifelike he takes my breath away.

Doesn't he look sweet in his new outfit?

New reborn babies, Nod

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted.  I had a flood in my basement, and i've been having internet problems (not related).

I've made 3 reborn baby dolls since I last wrote.  Here the first.  He's from the Nod sculpt and he's anatomically correct.  He was already adopted.

I had fun crocheting the cute little sweater set with the bunny ear hat for him.  He looked so cute in it!

Emma is listed on Ebay

I stayed up until 3:30 AM to finish this auction template.  I sure hope Emma will find a new Mommy so I can make payments on my credit card.  I have to pay down Mac's $6000.00 vet bill.
Oh, here's the link to the auction:  Reborn Emma on Ebay
I'm so sleepy I almost forgot, lol.
Well, cross your fingers that she'll sell.
Goodnight!

My latest reborn baby girl

Reborn Lucy sculpt
I just put this little doll together today, and I'm so pleased with the way she turned out.  I worked hard on this doll over the past week, and I think this is the fastest I've ever made a doll.  I painted and baked for 8 hours a day for 3 days, then rooted for several days.  It took another day to seal the hair, lips, and nails, and after she was dry, I put her together.

I couldn't get any good photos this evening because it's dark and dreary outside.  We really needed the rain t hough, so I can't complain.

I've been busy painting dolls and dollhouse parts this week, plus rooting and sanding.  It will feel really nice to relax in my recliner while I crochet an outfit for this doll.  I always like to make special hand made outfits for them before I sell them on ebay.  I just have to choose an outfit. I have several cute dress patterns to choose from.

My latest reborn sold, yay!

Reborn doll, Andrew, adopted!

This little guy was fun to make, and he found a home the first time I listed him on ebay.  I was surprised, as I didn't give him any hair; he was my first bald baby.  I started the bidding a lot lower than I normally would because of his lack of hair.

I crocheted this adorable little outfit for him, and it was a perfect fit.  I hope his new Mom will like him.

Reborn doll in progress

Reborn Teagan sculpt in progress
This is the last of the triplets; Teagan.  I've been working on her/him for the past few days.  I want to give her a mottled newborn look.  I put some scratches on her knee; hopefully they look realistic.

I still have to do the eyebrows, finger and toenails.  I'm not sure if I should add more blues or purples, or even more blush.

I really like the shape of this doll's head; I think I may leave her bald.  I love bald babies, and I haven't made one yet.

Mac, sleeping in his crate and recuperating
I've been doing all of my crafts in the living room, next to Mac's crate because he doesn't like it when I leave the room for more than a few minutes.  I'm using the coffee table, and two TV tables to hold supplies.  I don't have a lap desk, so I'm using the top of my hamper as one, lol.  It sure makes things interesting (and messy!), but it keeps Mac happy, which is important while he heals.

He seems to be doing better today.  It's a gorgeous, sunny day, so we sat on the deck for awhile after his last potty break.  He was ready to go back in his crate after that though.  He's being so good about it.  Ben is still jealous and wants in the big crate too.  He goes in his fake (cardboard) crate at night.

Dollhouse construction day 2 and 3

Inner house

Well I was wildly optimistic to think I could construct this dollhouse in one day.  Here's day 2, the inner house, complete.  It was saggy so I used small dowels in between the first and second stories to firm it up a bit.  Once the inner house is sewn into the outer house, it will firm up even more.

This video was supposed to appear later in this post, lol. I don't know how it arrived up here, and I don't know how to move it down; oops.
Inner and outer house, side by side

Day 3 of construction (yesterday), I sewed the outer house walls together, along with the floor.
Porch construction

Last night I added the porch roof, and the porch front and side walls.  These were awkward to sew onto the main shell of the house because the house is so big it was hard to hold and sew at the same time, yet too floppy to just leave standing on the table while I sewed.   I stopped after midnight last night.

On another subject, we had quite a snowfall last night.  We have a winter storm warning in effect today, with white out conditions.  Here's a video I took this afternoon, of the birds, eating at my deck.  They were so unafraid they let me stand right there with the door open as the landed all around me.  The bird video (above) is supposed to go here, lol.

Also on another topic, my reborn doll sold on ebay; woohoo!
