Welcome to my blog

If you enjoy finding a lot of different outlets for your creativity, then we may just be kindred spirits.
This blog is an outlet for my interest in miniatures, crochet, plastic canvas, and many other various arts and crafts.

I also love walking, taking digital photos, and most recently, have rediscovered an old love...bike riding! I purchased an amazing new bike, a comfy Townie by Electra this summer, and have been having a grand time exploring the area as though for the first time. It's like being a kid again!

If you enjoy any of these things too, pour a cup of coffee and tea, sit down, and join me.

Take care!

17 Weeks Post Op RNY Surgery, down 84.8 Lbs now!

Hi Guys,
I feel terrible about not updating my blog as often as I should.  Life has been flying by at an amazing pace since my surgery on Feb. 1st.

This morning was my weigh in day and I lost 4.2 Lbs this week, for a grand total of 84.8 Lbs!
I can now fit into a size XL top and bottom, although I am still wearing my 1X's as it's expensive to keep shopping every size.  I even kept a a few old 4-5X tshirts and wear the as nighties now, lol.

I've been keeping active, swimming laps at the pool several times a week, plus riding my bike and walking.

Tomorrow I will start cycling in earnest, weather permitting, as it's the first day of the Great Cycle Challenge Canada, and I pledged to ride 100 km in the month of June, in order to help raise money to fight cancer, and especially, children's cancer.

I already did 111 km in the month of May, plus a few rides in April, so I know I can do it unless the weather is really bad.  I won't ride in the rain as I don't want to get sick.  Today was very cold and rainy but this weekend it is supposed to warm up, so I hope so.

I feel great, but was a bit emotional today as it would have been Benji's 17th birthday today.  Benji was my sweet toy poodle, who passed away peacefully in his sleep in February, when I was away in Toronto, just after I had my surgery.  RIP, baby boy.

I haven't done any crafts or crocheting since the chickens but am feeling the urge to make some miniatures.

I hope you're all doing well.

Take care!

Crocheted Chickens, lots of chickens, lol.

Hi Guys,
I totally forgot to post photos of my cute crocheted chickens!  I made them to give away at Easter.  They're Easter Egg cozies, and so cute!  I made so many of them and still didn't have enough as my cousin requested one more, lol.
I started making them in real chicken colors, but then added some pinks and lilacs for fun.
I glued on little eyes (fishing lure eyes, for the most part), and embroidered one chicken's eyes (didn't like that look).
I colored eggs for the first time in ages and had so much fun!  I'm going to do it every year from now on.  I had colorful breakfasts with the left overs for 3 days, lol.

I put the chickens and eggs in a tray and a family friend held them up for this photo.  Then I just passed the tray around and let everyone pick their own color.

I was very surprised that my Uncle Buck chose the hot pink chicken!  His daughter Jane ended up with it so I had to give him another one.
My best friend Laurie liked her chicken.

I really enjoyed making them!  You can find the pattern for free on Ravelry.
