 I Am a LONGTIME Donny Osmond Fan

My First Donny Osmond Album, age 8 

I was 6 years old when I first heard the Osmond's singing "One Bad Apple", back in 1970.  

I was born in 1964, so that made me 6 years old.  I was drawn to Donny's voice right away, as he sang the "call back" sections to Merrill's lead.  I didn't know any of that then, of course. I just knew I liked the song, and the Osmonds.

In 1971 Donny released "The Donny Osmond Album" and I wanted it so badly.  I really loved his song, "Sweet & Innocent".  I was only 7 and my parents must have thought I was too young to have a record player and records, so I listened to the radio and ran over to it and jacked up the volume whenever Donny or the Osmonds were playing. 

In 1972 Donny released "Go Away Little Girl", which was my FAVORITE.  I would jump up and down like a lunatic singing along at the top of my lungs whenever it came on.  I remember being at our family cottage, which we always call "camp".  I'd be outside playing, swinging on my swing, which my Dad had made for me by nailing boards between two big trees and hanging a swing from the board.  I used to soar so high on that thing, with the water behind me, and the camp up ahead of me.  But whenever Donny came on, no matter how high I was flying on my swing, I'd leap off and run to the front of the camp.  My Mom's (now old fashioned) blue radio was always playing through the screen, and at one point my Dad had pulled an old cot out in front of the camp, and my little brother and I loved using it as a trampoline.  So I'd leap onto the cot and jump up and down on the rusty springs, singing "Go Away Little Girl" at the top of my lungs.

Then "Puppy Love" came out and since I was already obsessed with all things dog, I fell in love all over again.  

Christmas of my 8th year was amazing, because I got an adorable white suitcase style record player, and my first Album, Donny's "My Best to You".  I loved it and listened to it over and over again.

I never did get to see the Osmonds in concert as I was just too young to head off on my own, and my parents weren't about to drive me to the USA from our small northern city in Canada just to see a concert.  But I bought all of their albums, and when the Donny & Marie show started in the late 70's, I stayed home and watched every Friday night.

When I was older I got to see Donny in Joseph, and I saw him in concert when he had a big come back in the early 90's with Soldier of Love.  When Donny &  Marie did their second show, I was lucky enough to fly to California and get tickets to the show. I brought my 1st album, and the photo above, with me, and Marie noticed during a break and came over.  We talked and she called me cute and hugged me, then called Donny over to meet me. Donny also hugged me and kissed my cheek.  He signed my album and they both signed my photo, which I hope is somewhere in storage still (I lost a lot of boxes during my last move).

Now, courtesy of the Internet, I can interact with Osmonds on Facebook almost every day.  Jay has responded personally to my comments a few times. Marie and Alan have each responded once. They've all given me hearts.

I also am on Donny's "text me" list, where he texts about upcoming shows and appearances.  At Christmas he texted us all to wish us Merry Christmas and I impulsively texted back.  I was shocked when he texted me personally.  I was so thrilled!  

Then yesterday he texted that he would be doing an interview on live stream, so of course I watched.  I tried to order his latest album on vinyl, but unfortunately it wasn't available for shipment to Canada.

While he was being interviewed, chat was open and soooo many people were commenting.  I commented too, and was lucky enough that the interviewer chose my comment to read to Donny. 

Here it is, lol.  I know, I'm a huge fangirl, lol, but I wanted it here, on my blog, so I could return to it.
