Welcome to my blog
If you enjoy finding a lot of different outlets for your creativity, then we may just be kindred spirits.
This blog is an outlet for my interest in miniatures, crochet, plastic canvas, and many other various arts and crafts.
I also love walking, taking digital photos, and most recently, have rediscovered an old love...bike riding! I purchased an amazing new bike, a comfy Townie by Electra this summer, and have been having a grand time exploring the area as though for the first time. It's like being a kid again!
If you enjoy any of these things too, pour a cup of coffee and tea, sit down, and join me.

Today's Art, Merry Christmas, 2022
Merry Christmas!

Procreate Art, from following James Julier Art Tutorials |
Wow, where does the time go? HOW is it already Christmas day? I thought I started early enough with my Christmas prep, but here were are, Christmas Day and I still have ONE more thing to finish. Not gonna happen, lol. Oh well; I did enough.
I am so behind on posting here because I've been painting and drawing and crocheting and diamond painting up a storm. I made loads of decorations and gifts and had a lovely time doing it.
There were so many Christmas art tutorials that I wanted to follow, but I only had time to do this one, today, lol. I also made some hand painted ornaments and can blog about them later this week after the last gift is opened.
We had blizzard here, for the past two and a half days and we've gotten so much fresh snow that it took my poor Dad 3 hours to clear out the driveway today, and it was cleared yesterday. My Mom even helped for an hour. I feel so bad that I can't help with that sort of thing but I've never been able to do that because of my severe asthma. Every year I offer to pay to have someone come do snow removal and every year they just get mad and say no. One year I did hire someone anyway, as a Christmas present and that did not go over well and the poor guy refunded my money after trying to do the driveway for 2 weeks. My parents either beat him to it or they stood outside criticizing him, lol. It was funny, but sad too.
Anyway, we finally opened our stockings and Smokey (my parrot) opened her gifts. My Dad is on the phone with our family in Austria right now, so when he's done we'll open our gifts and I'll be back with photos. It will only be the 3 of us for dinner, and possibly our neighbor, if she can't get to her brother's house. THe roads are bad. Our cousin was supposed to come to dinner but she can't get out of her driveway. So much snow, and it's still snowing!
Anyway, wishing you a very Merry Christmas!

Crocheted Christmas Ornaments, Set of 3
Crocheted Christmas Ornaments
Crocheted Christmas Ornaments 2021 |
Next came little Santa, to look over Mr. Penguin
And finally, a Reindeer.
The pattern works very well, and I still have 2 more characters to make, a bear and a Yeti. I'm still very slow at crocheting since I broke my finger and it healed up all crooked. In the past I would have been able to make the whole set in a few hours. Now it takes me maybe 4 or 5 times longer than it used to; it took me all day to make these three, and I just finished and it's almost 2 AM.
If you want to try the pattern, it's by Amy Gaines, and can be found on Etsy. Amiguri Christmas Crochet 2021

Crocheting for Shelter Dogs and Cats
Christmas Crochet Gifts for Shelter Pets

Christmas crochet for shelter pets |
I was busy for the whole month of December and part of November
Crocheting these adorable gifts for the shelter dogs and cats at our local humane society. The mice were for the cats, and the larger food themed toys (except for the duck, lol) were for the dogs.

My hamster, Dasha, checking out the mice. |
My Siberian dwarf hamster, Dasha, gave her mousie seal of approval to the mice, lol. Actually, she just wanted to fight them.

Crocheted pie, gingerbread man, and cheeseburger |
I found most of the patterns for free on Ravelry.com, but all of the hamburger patterns came in a zillion pieces that had to be sewn together, so I just made up the cheeseburger pattern on my own. I'll share the pattern in another blog post :-).

Crocheted dog bone, turkey drumstick, and mallard |
The dog bone cracked me up because I was crocheting mindlessly while watching Netflix, not really paying attention to what I was doing until the pattern told me I had to stuff the bone before I could make the top portion. This is what I ended up with...

This is the point in the pattern where we're told to stuff the dog bone. I just about died at what appeared after I stuffed it, lolol. |
Here's a link to my Ravelry project page. You can find links to all of the patterns I used there. They were all free :-).

Belated Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Weight loss!
Happy 2015! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and the New Year is treating you well.
I joined Weight Watchers online last week, and today was my first weigh in. I'm down 7.4 Ibs! I have a LOT more to go, but I"m off to a good start.
We had a nice Christmas here. The dogs and birds were very happy with their gifts, and so were my parents (for once, lol).
My Dad loved his new Keurig 3000. He set it up in the basement recroom, next to his recliner by the fireplace, and he is happily making single serve coffees every night without having to come upstairs, lol.
Mom said she liked her new ipod but she still insisted on listening to the old radio rather than the 400 songs she picked out for me to download. Today I had to literally shut the radio off and put the ipod on her and she's been listening happily for 4 hours...with one ear. The other earbud is tucked down her shirt, lol. Turns out she was worried about having music directly in her ear and not being able to hear other things.
Smokey loves her new musical toy, and the button she presses the most plays a song with these lyrics: "The birds sing tweet-tweet, tweet-tweet, tweet-tweet. It sounds really neat, tweet-tweet, tweet-tweet. She chuckles every time she hears that, lol, and sometimes says, "tweet-tweet" herself. She's so funny. Noel is still afraid of his new toy but it always takes him awhile to get used to new things. He's enjoying his bird food treats though.
The dogs were happy to have 2 gift bags each under the tree, as well as 1 gift bag each by the fireplace, in lieu of stockings (the stockings usually get ripped to shreds).
